Jennifer appears on TBS’s “Movie and a Makeover”

Jennifer and her husband, artist Jonathan Fenske, recently received a makeover of Jennifer’s home office courtesy of the TBS television show. Jennifer adores the creation of a ”writer’s retreat” complete with funky rugs, chandelier, and beautiful furniture. There’s even a bulletin board (cleverly hidden under a window shade) for tracing plot points and character development for her next novel.

Viewers of ”Movie and a Makeover” watched the makeover in between scenes from ”You’ve Got Mail.” Atlanta designer Cynda Boomershine created the new office.

Expert Cinda Boomershine was kind enough to supply us with the following tips:

• To create a floating desk with storage, you don’t have to be a handyperson. Simply pick out your favorite two-drawer file cabinets and place them roughly three to four feet apart. Purchase the top you like best (an old door, nice sheet of wood or if you like glass, choose tempered safety glass), lay it on top of the cabinets and you’ve got a custom workspace!

• If you are stumped on a color choice for a room, keep in mind that a great source of inspiration is to pull colors from your favorite art piece. The blues, yellows, tans and oranges in Jennifer’s office were all picked from her husband Jonathan’s painting.

• Wallpaper is a great way to add texture to a room. If you choose not to go with paint, keep in mind that many of today’s wallpaper manufacturers carry collections in all different textures. The addition of texture to the room gives it a feeling of more depth.
